be_longing follows children and young adults on their way through a crumbling world. What unites the stories is the search for belonging and identity on different levels: the reference to a place, to a community, the desire for one's own gender identity, the connection to the family or the chosen family in the sense of friendships. The films negotiate these challenges from different perspectives, but always through sensitive cinematic approaches that capture the protagonists with all their wishes and hopes, as well as their inner contradictions and fears. The torn apart world of young people, which on the one hand demands classification and on the other hand makes it so difficult, can be experienced through the moving images in this focus section.
